Responsible for FTI’s quality control program development, implementation and management, which includes product quality (visual & dimensional training); product safety (non-destructive & hydrostatic testing) and overall compliance to customers purchase orders testing and material specification.

Quality Manager

Responsibilities

  • Compiles QC data packages for presentation to customer inspectors or their Document Control group.
  • Creates or revises Welding Procedures, NDE Procedures, Test Reports and general QC documentation based on orders. Handles NCRs as they arise by isolating the issue and find a solution.
  • Prepares documentation and parts for the arrival of outside inspectors and provides answers to any questions that arise.
  • Interfaces with Customer QA, 3rd Party inspectors and ASME Authorized Inspectors (AI).
  • Creates, writes and revises Quality Control System for Pressure Piping (PP).
  • Prepares for ASME Audits (every 3 years) by interfacing with ASME National Board, State of Texas Boiler Inspection and local Authorized Inspection agency
  • Creates, writes, and qualifies new welding procedures based on new welding technology, & constantly evolving materials and filler metals. 
  • Qualifies welders to ASME Section IX and maintains continuity log as required by ASME & PED.
  • Manages and completes ASME P-4A Data sheets
  • Oversees and maintains records on Company's Equipment Calibration and Certification Program Interfaces with Notified Body during annual ISO/PED audits. 
  • Maintains "Final Inspection Check-list" & issues EC Declaration of Conformity (CE Marked jobs).
  • Coordinates Pre-audit Certification planning with members of upper management.
  • Conducts internal audits and Management Review meetings as required by ISO & document.
  • Reviews Customer specifications for Welding, Post Weld Heat Treatment, NDE requirements and advises Sales & Engineering (if required)

 

Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in Industrial, Mechanical or Welding Engineering or related degree; OR 5-7 years working with quality in a manufacturing environment.
  • Prior experience managing employees, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent familiarity with Material Testing Reports (MTR) & be able accept or reject based on ASME Section II & Customer specifications.
  • Working knowledge of shop measuring & testing equipment (i.e.: micrometers, PMI test equipment, surface rough gauges, and hardness testing equipment).
  • Must be AWS - QC1 Certified Welding Inspector
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience with the followings:  ASME Section I (Power Boilers),  Section II (Materials),  Section V (NDE), Section IX (Weld Procedure & Personnel Qualification),  B31.1 (Power Piping),  B31.3 (Process Piping), B31.8 (Gas Transmission Piping & Related Facilities),  NACE Specifications.
  • Working knowledge of ASNT requirements for NDE personnel qualification.
  • Excellent Familiarity with Section IX Qualification of welders and welding procedures.
